SUPLOGIX was created to contribute to the progression of stand up paddle boarding and paddle sports through scientific research, instruction, product design, sustainability initiatives and promotion of the health and fitness benefits of the sport.

CAREY’S BIO

Carey has had a lifelong love of athletics, outdoor adventure and design. Over the past two decades he has established a successful career as a diversified fitness and outdoor industry professional. As a host, producer, and developer his television and radio credits include “Targeted Sports” on the Health Network, “Adventure Center” on the Outdoor Life Network and Sirius Satellite Radio and “Adventure Racing 101″ on the Sportskool Network. In addition to his key role in the international launch of the Spinning indoor cycling program and Equinox Fitness Clubs’ Equinox Fitness Training Institute, Carey was also a nationally recognized fitness industry presenter and educator. A career sea kayaking and adventure racing instructor Carey became captivated with stand up paddle boarding over the last several years transitioning from surf ski paddling. He played a central role in the development, implementation and management of the Manhattan Kayak Company SUP program. Trained at the graduate level as an industrial designer, and with extensive professional experience Carey’s dedication to teaching and guiding is matched by his passion for designing innovative products for paddle sports.

SHANNON’S BIO

Born and raised along the rugged coast of south central Alaska, Shannon MacDowell’s is a successful New York City movement professional. She discovered SUP on the dynamic waters surrounding Manhattan Island and has since paddled and guided in far flung locations such as Whittier Alaska and the Osa Peninsula in Costa Rica. Shannon has served as a head SUP guide and instructor for the Manhattan Kayak Company. She is an ambassador for Vrou nutrition and sports beverages. A career veteran of the dance world, her credits include the Amy Marshall Dance Company, David Grenke Projects, Gabrielle Lamb Dance, and other notable New York City and international choreographers. Shannon has fueled her work in the outdoor and fitness industries with an extensive background in anatomy, kinesiology, and the study of functional movement and biomechanics. She has worked as a personal trainer, group fitness and bootcamp instructor for leading New York City companies such as Uplift Studios, Discover Outdoors, and Elysium Fitness. With a BFA in dance from Rutgers University, she is an ACA level 2 SUP Instructor and holds additional certifications from ACE and the Kane School for Pilates.
